This is what we in the photography world call SOC ( straight out of camera).  Underexposure is necessary in order to save the beautiful colors in the end. Backlighting is set up to highlight the subject.

First, the photo is color enhanced.  This process brings out all the colors that was meant to be captured.  And now the subject is more pronounce.  The sky and sunset is brighter and details stand out.

Then we remove anything unsightly or any distractions in the photo.  We add skin smoothing if necessary, and fix anything out of place (like hair sticking up, stain on a shirt, and so on…)

FINAL RESULT is a clean shot that focuses on the subject while still featuring the beautiful sunset setting on the beach.
